Resident Pilot Update

Let’s talk about Resident Pilot

Okay, so now the Resident Pilot software is in place. If you don’t remember, here’s a refresh….it’s a web-based communication software that I feel some kickbacks were taken from our board members to put it in place. Perhaps this explains why they put it into place and gave no further information to owners (hmmm…kind of on the DL).

Anyhow, here are the problems:

1. They are assuming EVERYBODY in this building has internet service or knows how to use the internet.

2. They feel that owners SHOULD check for important messages such as when their mail/FEDEX packages (important to many of us) have arrived and signed for on resident pilot, not the Unitone intercom system that we have in our homes, that we paid for. Yet, they feel that they should notify important information such as when the property manager is out of office on Unitone.

3. In order to implement a web-based system, they must ensure that all owners have the necessary means to access the system. It is owner’s right to not have to pay for internet service, an added cost. Furthermore, they have to provide the necessary education for owners who are not technology savvy. Don’t forget, not everybody can afford internet (with it, you must get a computer, which can cost thousands of dollars and all the necessary equipments to make it work).

4. If they are adamant about making this program be the only communication, they need to a) allow Fed-X to deliver packages to owner’s doors b) credit owner’s for partial of common charges since we pay for the concierge to properly notify us in a timely fashion that our mail is available for pick-up, but they don’t allow the doormen to notify us through unitone.

There’s so many problems that they did not think about before implementing Resident Pilot. This is so because they haphazardly forced the software through without stopping to think of the problems that it would bring owners. But then again, are they thinking about the owners??? Hmmm. I asked some of the doormen whether owners complain about resident pilot. They told me that over half of owners complain. This means that the board is not acting in the owner’s interest (what they were voted to do) but are acting only on their personal interests.

So about three weeks ago, I called the manager to ask her to tell the doormen to notify me of my mail through unitone. She said in a weeks time, there will be a letter going out about the resident pilot (nothing to date). So today, I had a FedX package waiting for me and didn’t even know till about 9 hours later, when I got access to email. I called down to the doorman and asked him why he didn’t notify me through unitone, he said that the board decided 3 weeks ago to not notify owners through unitone (only through resident pilot). Yet prior to that, they told the doormen to notify owners through unitone as well as resident pilot. Hmmm…I wonder if this is a cruel intention towards me.

Well, all I can say is this….due to their negligence in providing me the basic service I pay for, I am behind schedule with my business. There are damages that somebody has to pay for. When you do business with overseas companies and your product line has strict schedules, time is of the essence. When you pay for proper, timely service and don’t get it and because of this, you lose money, somebody has to pay for this. Even FedX, when they don’t get a package to you in a timely fashion, they reimburse you for the cost.

I can't figure the thought process here. If there’s unitone intercom in every condo and it doesn’t cost any more to use it and it makes owner’s life easier (we pay for this anyways), why not let the doormen notify the owners through the unitone too? What is the board’s point for forbidding this?

What’s worse is we have a board that claims to be “experienced.” 3 brains from the resident side couldn’t get it right. Even worse, 4 brains from the so called developer side couldn't figure it out either. Fabulous. Just fabulous.

Considering a building with 180 homes, a web-based system like Resident Pilot is useless unless all home owners are willing to pay for internet. This will be impossible to do.

Computer Gender

Women claim that computers should be referred to in the masculine gender because:

1. In order to get their attention, you have to turn them on.
2. They have a lot of data, but are still clueless.
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they are the problem.
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that, if you had waited a little longer you could have had a better model.

Men concluded that computers should be referred to in the feminine gender because:

1. No one but the Creator understands their internal logic.
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else.
3. Even your smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for retrieval.
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

Our Security Guard is BACK!!!

James is back!!! But now I wonder if he's back because crime is up around the building. Hmmm....

But anyways, I guess the board realized they made a idiotic decision. As always.
