I love Wolly World (Walmart) but since we don't have one in NYC, Target will do. I shop at Target probably once a week if not every other week. So the Gateway Center will be a blessing. I hate going up to 225th street. Soon, it'll just be a nice walk across the bridge on a sunshiny day. I think it's gonna open in July. Looks like there's gonna be quite a few big box stores that I frequent on a regular basis: Home Depot (love, love), Bed Bath & Beyond, Toys R Us (I go there probably more than I should), Marshalls, BJs, Best Buy, etc. There are still vacant spots and here are my suggestions:
1. a furniture store
2. a bookstore
3. macys, sears, jcpennys or khols
4. some big grocery store but not wholefoods.
And restaurants:
1. Olive Garden
2. Texas Roadhouse or Outback Steakhouse
3. On the Border Cafe
4. TGIFs
5. PF Changs
6. An American buffet like Golden Corral or something like it
That's all I want.

Why not a Whole Foods supermarket? That would be AWESOME!!!
I posted a few shots of the construction a few months ago. I hope they get the traffic situation worked out though. You know how bad it was on a Friday when the Yanks had a game. Now let's multiply that by 5. I would like a decent bookstore as well to join the mall. A movie theater (though Magic is OK), an anchor store (like Macy's Kohl's or Penney's would be great but probably not practical in this soft market) i will take any of your dining options EXCEPT a Fridays or Applebee's. They need a bus hub like the malls in California and plenty of FREE or validated parking and a taxi stand for livery cabs! I hope the new Target is better than the 225th store. That one is just pitiful at this point.
Forgot why I came over here...did you hear Halstead is going to be offering below market rate apts. in your building?
It's suppose to have around 2500 parking spaces. How can I forget about a movie theatre! That would be fabulous! Where I'm from, TGIF's has awesome drinks (the stuff that'll get you after a couple of sips). Don't know about the ones here. When I'm desperate, I go to the 225th one. Most of the time, I go across GWB.
Yes, traffic would be horrendous. Traffic is bad enough on a normal day. I think the BX19? across the street goes across the bridge. Whatever, they have to figure out the traffic situation.
I think Whole Foods is totally overpriced. There was a recent article about them firing an employee for eating a sandwich so they don't have to pay him unemployment or something like that. To me, that's just bad.
Below market value huh? Can I pay 100K for one? Cuz that's probably what it's worth.
About Supermarkets, maybe it could be a Fairway. They are not overpriced, and have good food.

I tried finding an e-mail or main number contact information on their webpage to suggest the location for a new Fairway at the Bronx Gateway Mall, but could not find it.
Any hints on how to suggest them the location?
Oh yea, Fairway sounds good. I love Fairway. I think you should try calling the gateway center folks(The Related Company?) and suggest they contact Fairway. It's worth a try. Go here:

Sorry D.Bell, looks like Applebees is one of them. I ABSOLUTELY HATE APPLEBEES!!!!!!
Figures...I'll trade the Applebee's for Chili's.
Another suggestion: An art store like Michael's or Hobby Lobby. We all need to find the artist in us. It's quite therapeutic, especially if you lost your job or your money in this economy. I LOVE going to the art stores.
